Theater Film and Multimedia is a Master program offered by the Faculty of Theater and Television of Babes-Bolyai University, accredited by the Ministry of Education and Research under the Bologna system. It offers 120 transferable credits in a two years program. The course is structured in three separate modules of learning:
- Film and Performing Arts
- Media Production: Documentary Film
- Interactive Multimedia
The Interactive Multimedia module is a program jointly taught by academics from the Faculty of Theater and Television and visiting professors, or partners from European universities, that will use blended learning methods to teach online and face to face. The program is collaborating with European Virtual Academy (EVA) and with the European Academy for Digital Media and is encouraging the development of new media content that requests complementary and interdisciplinary skills and abilities of production and design, with a special emphasis on a European perspective.
Networked technologies are used to in the program to create, foster, deliver, and facilitate learning anytime and anywhere. In addition to providing a delivery mechanism for content, Internet tools are also used to mentor and monitor learners, facilitate interaction among dispersed learners, introduce subject matter experts, evaluate the learning experience, and foster virtual communities among learners.
The Interactive Multimedia program is taught in English, and most of the activities take place online, synchronous or asynchronous taking advantage of all the benefits of an e-Learning program:
- Time flexibility;
- Saves time;
- No geographical barriers;
- Simple and flexible logistics;
- The most up-to-date content;
- Much lower cost to administer the course:
- Immediate results and feedback;
- Better retention;
- Greater access to expertise;
- A better fit for 21st-century businesses needs.
During the synchronous e-Learning activities, students and lecturers meet in real-time in a virtual classroom, through chat and video conferencing. This allows students to actively participate, and teachers to answer questions instantly. Rather than taking lessons alone, students can easily interact with fellow students and their teachers during the course.
The asynchronous e-Learning activities come to complement the learning process by carrying out activities even while the students are offline and involve coursework delivered via learning platforms, email, and message boards that are then posted on online forums. In such cases, students ideally complete the course at their own pace, by using the Internet merely as a support tool rather than volunteering exclusively for an e-learning software or online interactive classes.
The overall aim of the Interactive Multimedia Master Program is that its graduates will have an advanced understanding of the current digital culture and of the new types of media we are working with today, being capable of coordinating interdisciplinary teams in order to produce media content for existing and emerging digital platforms.
The specific goals that are carried out by each course individual can be seen in the Courses section of the platform.
